Homework
In "Parents"
All subjects will set challenging homework in line with the whole school’s policy that consolidates learning, deepens understanding and prepares students well for work to come, in line with college policy.
As a college, we know that homework encourages the development of key independent learning skills and allows all to take full ownership of their learning. Developing good learning skills at home at an early age will help to prepare students for the demands at Key Stages 4 and 5 and will in turn aid progression and development beyond St Michael’s Catholic College. Therefore, we place great emphasis on homework at St Michael’s Catholic College.
Consistent homework has been proven to increase the success of our students. All students are to receive a range of homework tasks every day from at least 2 different subject areas.
- KS3 students should spend approximately 30-40 minutes per subject each night
- KS4 and 5 students should spend approximately 1 hour per subject each night.
The college does offer a homework club before and after school to support students with all subject areas. Please contact your child’s Leader of Learning for arrangements about homework. All homework is posted on Google Classroom for all classes at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
Parents can see when homework is set by teachers and due on Google Classroom. Please see: How to check Google Classroom Announcements
