Message from the Principal for Parents or Carers – 16.09.2020
Dear Parents/Carers,
I appreciate that many of you may be concerned about information currently in the press about access to Covid-19 tests and results. The current delays could pose challenges both for you and the college and we are working in accordance with our college reopening plan to ensure we are taking every action possible to deliver the full curriculum to all students whilst following to our strict health and safety protocols.
Could I please remind all parents and carers that students should not be sent to college if they display any of the Covid-19 symptoms listed below and the college must be informed immediately;
- a high temperature –37.8 or higher – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Students will also be sent home if they present with any of these symptoms during the college day.
The college has put detailed plans in place to safely and effectively respond to students or staff presenting with symptoms or in the event that someone tests positive for Covid-19. Should someone test positive we will liaise with our local health protection team and act quickly to identify those who are direct close or proximity contacts so that they can be informed and self isolate for 14 days. We will update parents and carers in these circumstances as soon as is possible and practical. In the meantime I thought it would helpful to share the plans the college has in place should a student or member of staff test positive so that you are clear about the actions that will be taken.
Thank you for your continued support at this time.
Ms F. Corcoran
